Japan-U.S. Finance Ministerial Meeting (July 12, 2022)

On July 12, commencing at around 1:45 p.m. (Japan time), Minister of Finance, and Minister of State for Financial Services, Japan, Suzuki, Shunichi held a Japan-U.S. Finance Ministers meeting with the Secretary of the U.S. Treasury, Janet Yellen. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

  1. Ahead of the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting in Bali, Indonesia, Minister Suzuki and Secretary Yellen held an in-person bilateral meeting at the Ministry of Finance in Tokyo.
  2. At the meeting, Minister Suzuki and Secretary Yellen exchanged views about global economy, issues in the economic management of both Japan and the U.S., and key agendas to be discussed at the G20 meetings. As the outcome of the meeting, Minister Suzuki and Secretary Yellen issued the “Japan-U.S. Finance Ministerial Meeting Joint Statement”(PDF:161KB).
  3. Through the bilateral meeting, Minister Suzuki and Secretary Yellen resolved to play pivotal roles in tackling the difficult challenges facing the global community, promote strong, resilient, and sustainable economic growth, and to strengthen the rules-based global economic order by further strengthening their bilateral ties.
