On April 18, 2024, the event on Universal Health Coverage (UHC)※ (Transforming Challenge into Action: Expanding Health Coverage for All) was organized by the World Bank in Washington DC, the United States. Minister of Finance Shunichi Suzuki attended the event with World Bank President Ajay Banga, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and others.
※ Universal health coverage (UHC) ： all people have access to the full range of quality health services they need, when and where they need them, without financial hardship.
In this meeting, Minister Suzuki announced that Japan, together with the Bank and the WHO, will establish a "UHC Knowledge Hub" in Japan in 2025 to support developing countries towards the achievement of UHC.
