Signing of the Third Bilateral Swap Arrangement between Japan and Malaysia


   Japan and Malaysia have signed the Third Bilateral Swap Arrangement1 (BSA) with a maximum swap amount of up to 6 billion US Dollars or its equivalent in Japanese Yen.

   The agreement was signed between the Bank of Japan, acting as agent for the Minister of Finance of Japan, and Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), effective on September 18, 2026.

   Japan and Malaysia agree that the BSA will further deepen financial cooperation between the two countries and enhance regional financial stability.

1The BSA is a bilateral arrangement that allows both parties to exchange their respective local currencies for US Dollars. The arrangement also allows BNM to exchange Malaysian Ringgit for Japanese Yen.
