The Government of Japan, as represented by the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Government of Australia, as represented by the Department of Finance and Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, recently signed the Joint Strategic Financing Memorandum of Cooperation.
The Memorandum reflects the growing importance of strategic finance in advancing shared economic security objectives. It aims to strengthen cooperation between Japanese and Australian agencies while leveraging private sector investment, expertise and innovation.

The Memorandum was signed at the inaugural Japan-Australia Strategic Investment Networking Forum, as part of celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Japan and Australia. The Forum brought together representatives from around 20 Japanese and Australian policy and financing agencies to deepen relationships, build mutual understanding and discuss opportunities for cooperation on strategic investments across the Indo-Pacific.
