On Monday, October 5, 2026, Minister of Finance Satsuki Katayama signed the Memorandum of Cooperation on Japan-Australia Finance Ministerial Dialogue with the Hon. Jim Chalmers MP, Treasurer of Australia.
Following the signing, the inaugural Japan-Australia Finance Ministers' Dialogue was held in Tokyo, Japan, with the participation of both Ministers. The Ministers exchanged views on macroeconomic outlook and economic security, investment cooperation, and international cooperation, among other issues, and confirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
