On September 25, at 9:00 p.m. (JST), Minister Katayama held a conference call with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. The two ministers reaffirmed that, as discussed at the Japan-U.S. summit meeting and as Prime Minister Takaichi stated, the undervaluation of the yen is a matter of concern. They also exchanged views on developments in financial markets. The two ministers reaffirmed their intention to further strengthen Japan-U.S. cooperation.
