Masato Kanda, Vice Minister for International Affairs, visited Côte d'Ivoire (February 21-22, 2024)
On February 21, 2024, in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, Masato Kanda, Vice Minister for International Affairs, had meetings with Ms. Nialé Kaba, Minister of Economy, Planning and Development. Both sides had a candid exchange of views on Japan’s bilateral cooperation on its development priorities including quality infrastructure, food security, universal health coverage, and climate change; cooperation through Multilateral Development Banks; and private sector development including collaboration with Japanese companies, and agreed to cooperate more closely in these agenda.
Vice Minister Kanda, on February 22, also visited the African Development Bank (AfDB) headquarters in Abidjan and met President Akinwumi Adesina. Both sides discussed a wide range of agenda including measures to strengthen the AfDB’s capital adequacy, and concurred on staying in close communication for enhancing Japan-AfDB relations further, including collaboration with Japanese companies and an increase of Japanese staff.
