Meeting between Vice Minister KANDA Masato and Mr. Wally Adeyemo, Deputy Secretary of the Treasury of the United States of America (January 23, 2024)
Mr. KANDA Masato, Vice Minister of Finance for International Affairs met Mr. Wally Adeyemo, Deputy Secretary of the Treasury of the United States of America on Tuesday, January 23 in the morning.
They exchanged views on overall global economic issue as well as other issues, including those related to the situation in Ukraine.
They agreed to continue the strong support to Ukraine, and efforts for enhancing mechanisms for deterring sanction evasions, including those related to the oil price cap. They also agreed on continuing the discussion on immobilized Russian sovereign assets, following the G7 Leaders Statement issued under the Japanese presidency last December. They will continue to cooperate with other G7 members and like-minded countries in dealing with those issues.
