Japan-Germany Finance Ministerial Meeting (March 18, 2023)
On March 18, ahead of the Japan-Germany Inter-Governmental Consultations at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tokyo, Minister of Finance, and Minister of State for Financial Services, Japan, Suzuki, Shunichi met with the Federal Minister of Finance, the Federal Republic of Germany, Christian Lindner at the Ministry of Finance for about 45 minutes. In the meeting, the two ministers:
- exchanged views about the challenging issues facing the global community including economic security and perspective on the economic and fiscal management of both Japan and Germany;
- resolved to strengthen ties between Japan and Germany to play pivotal roles in tackling difficult challenges facing the global community and bolstering the rules-based global economic order; and.
- reaffirmed to further cooperate toward the G7 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting in Niigata in May.
