Extension of the Period of Investigation of
Graphite Electrodes Originating in the People’s Republic of China

  1. With regard to the Anti-Dumping Duty Investigation on Graphite Electrodes*1 Originating in the People’s Republic of China*2, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) have decided to extend the period of investigation by three months until July 23, 2025. The purpose of this extension is to carefully review the evidence and relevant documents submitted by interested parties, while ensuring full transparency and fairness throughout the investigation process.

    *1 Note: Graphite electrodes, in the form of poles, mainly used in electric arc furnaces to melt steel scraps with an electric current.

    *2 Note: Excluding the regions of Hong Kong, China, and Macao, China.

  2. MOF and METI have been conducting the investigation since April 24, 2024. The investigation was to be concluded within one year, but the period can be extended by six months at most if it is found necessary for special reasons. A provisional anti-dumping duty of 95.2% is scheduled to be imposed on Graphite Electrodes Originating in the People’s Republic of China from March 29, 2025.
