Issuance of Commemorative Coins for the 100th year of Showa
As part of the initiatives related to the “100th year of Showa,” the Ministry of Finance (MOF) has decided to issue a 1,000-yen silver coin to mark the 100th anniversary of the Showa era.

Note 3. Since this coin uses precious metal and is crafted with special technologies, it is a premium-type commemorative coin whose cost of manufacturing them exceeds the face value.
