Issuance Schedule for the New Series of Bank of Japan Notes
On April 9, 2019, the Ministry of Finance decided to manufacture a new series of the Bank of Japan notes with a view to strengthening the ability to prevent counterfeiting etc. The Ministry of Finance announced it would start issuing the new banknotes in the first half of fiscal 2024.
It has now been decided to start issuing the new series of Bank of Japan notes in around the first half of July 2024.
The Ministry of Finance will provide public notice of the date of issuance when necessary preparations are complete.
The current series of banknotes will remain valid after the issuance of the new series.
