Policy Research Institute (PRI) and Australian Productivity Commission (PC) held the first online-forum on the topic of the demographic changes and social security systems in both countries.

Mr Sakata Wataru, president of PRI, and Ms Nina Davidson, Head of Office of PC, gave their opening remarks at the beginning. Then, two institutions introduced their roles, functions and research activities with each other in session 1.

Ms Suzana Hardy, Senior Research Economist of PC made the presentation on “Superannuation Access and Disincentive to Work”. Then, Dr Ueda Junji, Director General of PRI, told on “Demographic Change in Japan: Impact on Social Security System and Macroeconomic Policy” in session 2. The participants had active discussions focused on each topic.
