The ASEAN+3 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting (May 3, 2024)


 On May 3, 2024, the ASEAN+3 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting was held in Tbilisi, Georgia. SUZUKI Shunichi, Japan’s Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Financial Services attended the meeting.
 At the meeting, Chiang Mai Initiative Multilateralisation (CMIM), the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO), Disaster Risk Financing (DRF), and other issues were discussed. The outcomes of the discussions are summarized in “Joint Statement(PDF:327KB)”, and released.

 The summary of Joint Statement is as follows.

    • Endorsed the establishment of the Rapid Financing Facility, as a new facility under the CMIM
    • Agreed on the benefits of a paid-in capital structure which would enhance the effectiveness of the regional financial safety net
    • Look forward to the arrival of the newly established Deputy Director (Functional Surveillance and Research) of AMRO
    • Welcome the progress made under the ABMI Medium-Term Road Map 2023-2026
    • Welcome the establishment of the ASEAN+3 DRF Initiative Secretariat, and Mr. Yoshihiro Kawai as the Secretary General of the ASEAN+3 DRF Initiative Secretariat


 In the margin of the ASEAN+3 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting, the Trilateral (China, Japan and Korea) Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting was also held. The outcomes of the discussions are summarized in “Joint Message(PDF:64KB)”, and released.
