Providing support to the Banking and Finance Academy (BFA)
(Visiting Uzbekistan for Master’s defense of BFA Student, Special Lectures,
and Exchanges of Opinions with Related Organizations)

   The Banking and Finance Academy (BFA) of the Republic of Uzbekistan is a higher education institution. It was established in 1996 with the aim of improving Uzbekistan’s financial, fiscal and tax policies and administration to an international level. Since the foundation of the BFA, the Policy Research Institute (PRI) has provided the BFA with various forms of assistance as part of its intellectual support for human resource development in Uzbekistan, including recommending and dispatching the First Vice Rector of the BFA (part-time), accepting BFA students for seminars held in Japan, and delivering special lectures at the BFA.

   Mr. Munenaga, the First vice Rector of the BFA and the Senior Research Fellow of the PRI, visited Uzbekistan from June 24 to June 30, 2018, with a view to implementing support activities such as participating in Master’s defense of BFA students, delivering special lectures at the BFA and the Bukhara Engineering Technological Institute. In addition, he exchanged opinions with high officials in Uzbekistan including Mr. Ilkhom Norkulov, Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.


1.Interviews with BFA Students

   BFA students are required to submit their master’s theses to complete their 24-month course at the BFA. Mr. Munenaga interviewed nine BFA students who participated in the Seminar for Central Asian and Caucasian Countries in 2017.

2.Special Lectures delivered by Mr. Munenaga, the Senior Research Fellow of the PRI

   Mr. Munenaga delivered special lectures at the BFA and the Bukhara Engineering Technological Institute.

3. Exchanges of Opinions with Related Organizations

   Mr. Munenaga had meetings to exchange opinions about the economic situation in Uzbekistan, as well as outcomes and challenges regarding human resource development at the BFA.
