Appointment of the next Deputy Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)

1.  On September 15, at the Council of the OECD, Mr. TAKEUCHI Yoshiki, former Vice-Minister of Finance for International Affairs of Ministry of Finance, was appointed as a Deputy Secretary-General of the OECD. After taking office in November, Mr. TAKEUCHI will assist Secretary-General Cormann along with the other Deputy Secretaries-General.

2.  Mr. TAKEUCHI has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of international economy and finance, and is expected to make crucial contributions to the OECD's efforts to tackle various economic and social challenges, including economic recovery from the COVID-19 crisis.

3.  Japan will continue to strongly support the OECD, led by Secretary-General Cormann, including personnel contributions, and actively contribute to such OECD efforts as making high-level international standards and rules.
