Japan and the UK have concluded the contract to exchange the ownership rights for leasehold rights for the premises of the British Embassy Tokyo

With respect to the land leased to the government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (the “UK”) by the government of Japan (“Japan”) for the premises of the British Embassy Tokyo, Japan and the UK have concluded today the contract to exchange the ownership rights of the leased land owned by Japan with the leasehold rights owned by the UK at equal value. 
    A part of the British Embassy Tokyo’s premises returned based on this contract will be utilized as a national park (the outer garden of the Imperial Palace) under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of the Environment.

                        Address : 1-2 Ichiban-cho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo
                        Site area : Approximately 7,000m2
