On February 4, 2020, Ministry of Finance, Japan, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan and U.S. Department of the Treasury signed the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) on Strengthening Energy and Infrastructure Finance and Market Building Cooperation.

Japan and the U.S. have worked cooperatively, including under economic dialogue between the two countries, to promote free, open, and competitive energy/infrastructure markets, to establish energy security by securing universal access to affordable and reliable energy, and to advance a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” (“FOIP”) through quality infrastructure investment.

Under the MoC, we will further advance energy and infrastructure market building in the Indo-Pacific region.
