Ministry of Finance

Color for characters and numbers on ten-thousand and thousand-yen Bank of Japan notes will be changed

Combinations of characters and numbers currently printed in black on ten-thousand and thousand-yen Bank of Japan notes have been all used up.
Therefore, the Ministry of Finance made a public notice based on Article 47 of the Bank of Japan Act so that it can newly issue ten-thousand and thousand-yen notes with characters and numbers printed in brown (dark orange) from July 19, 2011. Those Bank of Japan notes currently circulating can be used continuously.
