hosted by the NDRC of the Institute of Economic Research, China
“East Asia Economy: Crisis, Recovery and Policy Response”

    The Policy Research Institute (PRI) dispatched four officials to join the international conference: “East Asia Economy: Crisis, Recovery and Policy Response”, hosted by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of the Institute of Economic Research (IER), China.
    Macroeconomic research institutes run by central governments in the East Asian region (ASEAN countries, as well as China, Korea and Japan) were the main participants in the conference.
    The NDRC has a great influence in the macroeconomic policy of China, and has a very close relationship with the State Council.

    In this conference, on behalf of the PRI, Masahiko Nakazawa, Director for Office of Econometric Analysis for Fiscal and Economic Policy, made a presentation on “Global Finance Crisis and the Japanese Economy”, including the Japanese government’s response to the global financial crisis and the Japanese economic outlook.
