|August 21 (Mon) to 22 (Tue): Bookkeeping Seminar in Lao PDR|
Policy Research Institute (PRI), in collaboration with the Kawasaki Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Kawasaki CCI) and the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI), held a bookkeeping seminar in Vientiane, Lao PDR.
The seminar was held two days on 21 and 22 August, 2017. There were over 100 participants including enterprise executives, managers and staff as well as government officials.
Many participants commented that the seminar was very useful and practical.
|August 23 (Wen) to 25 (Fri): Visit for Final Assessment of Technical Cooperation on SME Finance |
for the Lao Development Bank (In Laos)
Since August 2014, PRI has conducted technical cooperation project / phase 2 on SME Finance for the Lao Development Bank (LDB), a state-owned commercial bank, in conjunction with Japan Finance Corporation, Micro Business and Individual Unit (JFC-Micro). The purpose is to develop the bank’s ability to examine loan applications.
This time we visited Vientiane, Laos, and implemented hearing survey of LDB staff and others in order to conduct final assessment of the project. In addition, we invited people from the Ministry of Finance of Laos and other guests and held a closing ceremony.
|August 24 (Thu) to 28 (Mon): Vice President Tanaka visited Beijing, China (Lectures at seminars and Meetings |
with Leading Chinese Research Institutes)
PRI has facilitated conducting research exchange with leading Chinese research institutes in economic and fiscal fields.
Vice President Tanaka made presentations on the themes “History Comparison of Japanese and Chinese Economic Extension” at the forum of 45 Years Celebration to Establish Diplomatic Relations between Japan and China held by the Institute of Japanese Studies in Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and “Japanese and Chinese Economic Cooperation in the Future” at the Seminar of an Outlook and a Condition for Economic Cooperation between Japan and China held by China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE).
We also exchanged opinions on recent economic conditions in China with International Economic Research, NDRC.
|August 4 (Fri) to 31 (Thu): FY2017 Seminar for Central Asian and Caucasian Countries|
Every year PRI holds the Seminar for Central Asian and Caucasian Countries with the aim of contributing to human resource development in these countries by accepting young executive candidates and professionals dispatched from their ministry of finance, etc., and providing them with Japan’s fiscal and economic knowledge and experience. This year, PRI held the seminar for 20 participants from seven countries for the period from August 4 to 31.
|August 3 (Thu) to 4 (Fri): Summer Top Seminar for Staff|
As a comprehensive training agency of the Ministry of Finance, PRI provides training programs for each level in the ministry, from newly hired staff members to top officials.
Summer Top Seminar for Staff was held as part of training for executive personnel by inviting lecturers who are active in various fields. The following seminars were held this year.

PRI held the Leading-edge Seminar at which frontline researchers gave lectures on leading-edge academic research and technically sophisticated research. A large number of officials from the Ministry of Finance attended the lectures and actively participated in the Q&A session after the lectures, showing a high level of interest in the discussion
