Major activities in April

April 17 (Mon) to 21 (Fri):
Vice President Tanaka visits China (Beijing and Chongqing) for opinion exchange with Chinese research institutes,
Japanese companies and others

PRI has been conducting research exchange with leading Chinese research institutes in economic and fiscal fields.

In Beijing, Vice President Tanaka visited leading Chinese research institutes including the Chinese Academy of Fiscal Sciences (CAFS) and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). The visits provided opportunities to exchange views on recent economic conditions in China.

He also visited Japanese companies and a government agency in Chongqing to exchange views on China’s economic trends and regional economic environment.

Workshops and other activities in April

April 6 (Thu): The fourth India Workshop FY2016

At the fourth India Workshop in 2016, Mr. Jagmohan Swamidas Chandrani (President of the Indian Commerce and Industry Association Japan (KSHICIJ) gave a lecture on “The History and Future of Japan-India Exchange,” and Ms. MIYASHITA Ritsue (Executive Officer of JAL Infortec and General Manager of the Tourism Industry Solution Division, Solution Business Headquarters) spoke on “The Introduction of IT Development Cases using Indian Companies.” The lectures were followed by a vigorous question and answer session and free discussion on the subject.

April 13 (Thu): The Fourth ASEAN Workshop

With a view to improving MOF’s knowledge on ASEAN, PRI has been holding ASEAN Workshops for relevant departments to exchange information and opinions on movements in ASEAN (including the movements of member countries).

At the fourth meeting, Mr. IWADARE Yoshihiko, Senior Consultant of the Global Manufacturer Consulting Department, Nomura Research Institute, made a presentation titled “Changes in the Environment Surrounding ASEAN and New Growth Strategy Scenario,” which was followed by a question and answer session and free discussion on the subject.

Seminar for staff

As a comprehensive training agency of the Ministry of Finance, the Policy Research Institute provides training programs for each level in the ministry, from newly hired staff members to top officials.

Seminars for staff are held as part of the training for executive personnel by inviting lecturers who are active in various fields. The following seminar was held this month.

Leading-edge Seminar

PRI held the Leading-edge Seminar, at which frontline researchers gave lectures on leading-edge academic research and technically sophisticated research. A large number of officials from the Ministry of Finance attended the lectures and actively participated in the Q&A session after the lectures, showing a high level of interest in the discussion.
