| August 11, 2011 Statement by Finance Minister Yoshihiko Noda The Asian Development Bank (ADB) announced today that the present President of the Bank, Mr. Haruhiko Kuroda, nominated by Japan for the presidency, is re-elected with the support from all the member countries. Mr. Kuroda has been highly recognized for his superb leadership in strengthening the ADB's support for growth and poverty reduction in the Asia-Pacific region. For these brilliant achievements, I understand that Mr. Kuroda is re-elected unanimously. I express my sincere gratitude to member countries of the ADB for their support to Mr. Kuroda, and I strongly hope that Mr. Kuroda, as the President of the Bank, continues to steer the Bank playing a key role in the Asia-Pacific region. |
