Receipt of an Order for the Manufacture of Two-Taka Coins from the Central Bank of Bangladesh
The Ministry of Finance and the Japan Mint as an incorporated administrative agency (hereinafter referred to as "the Mint") have been working in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on receipt of orders for the manufacture of foreign coins. As a result, the Mint has recently received from the Central Bank of Bangladesh an order for the manufacture and supply of 500 million two-Taka coins as common currency for circulation (see the attachmentThis is the first order for the manufacture of common currency for circulation that the Mint has received since the end of World War II.
This year was the milestone of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Bangladesh , and the Ministry and Mint believe that this order will contribute to the further strengthening of relations between the two countries.
Note:The Mint participated in the international tender held by the Central Bank of Bangladesh in July 10 and won the bid on November 8, 2012.
