Notice of the Results of the Coin Design Contest for Commemorative Coins for the Great East Japan Earthquake Reconstruction Project

The Ministry of Finance and the Japan Mint requested submissions for the contest to design Commemorative Coins for the Great East Japan Earthquake Reconstruction Project between February 22, 2012 and March 21, 2012. During this period, we received 1,214 designs for the 10,000 yen gold coins and 1,429 designs for the 1,000 yen silver coins.

We appreciate all your proposals.

Staff at the Ministry of Finance and the Japan Mint will do preliminary selections and announce its result by the beginning of April.

Then, the selected designs will be judged by experts and the winning designs will be announced at the end of May.
